and entering the same ID and password that their child uses. They will be able to see exactly what quizzes have been taken and the percentage of questions answered correctly. With the "AR Book Finder" they can search for books based on interest and reading level.

Accelerated Reader, or "AR" as it is often called, is an online reading incentive program available to the students at High Point. After reading a book, they take a 5, 10 or 15 question quiz on the computer and points are earned according to the reading level of the book and percentage of questions answered correctly. Quizzes can only be taken at High Point during the school day.
The PTA provides generous support for the program and volunteers provide prizes and celebrations throughout the year to reward students and classes for the points they have earned.
All students in grades 2-5 are given a personal ID and password and provided with an orientation session so that they can participate in the program. Students in Kdg and 1st grades are individually recommended by their teachers if and when they feel that their reading skills and computer skills are developed enought to benefit from the program.
AR can also serve as a valuable tool for the teachers by providing diagnostic data on the reading progress of their students.
